Habit Builders Open for Retaking

STAGE: In Development
PROJECTED DONE:

Members will now be able to retake a Habit Builder they've already completed. For clients who pay incentives on Habit Builders, a completed Habit Builder no longer has to be a one-time event; members can go through it again, and admins decide which Habit Builders allow it.

What's Changing

A Per-Habit Builder Retake Setting
Each Habit Builder gets an "Allow Retake" setting in the admin. It's on by default for new and existing Habit Builders, so retake is available across the catalog at release. Admins can turn it off for any individual Habit Builder.

When Members Can Retake
There's no cooldown or plan-year restriction; members can retake as soon as an attempt is complete. Fixed-progression Habit Builders release their phases on a set schedule and run within a set window, so every member moves at the same pace. When that window closes before a member finishes, they can now start the Habit Builder again, even though they never completed it.

A Clean Start for Automations
When a member retakes a Habit Builder, any scheduled or in-progress automations from the previous attempt that were triggered by registration or phase completion are canceled, so the new attempt starts everything fresh.

Habit Builders With Single-Use Flows
Retake isn't available for any Habit Builder that includes a single-use flow activity; if this is attempted, the flow editor shows a warning.

A Note on Course Activities in Habit Builders: What to Know Before Release

Because retake is on by default, review any Habit Builders tied to incentives. A Habit Builder made up exclusively of course activities will complete again immediately after a retake, since completed courses carry over. That completion can trigger another incentive. If that isn't the outcome you want, turn off Allow Retake for that Habit Builder.

Why It Matters

  • Incentive Programs That Keep Running—Clients who use incentives on Habit Builders can offer members another round without rebuilding or duplicating content.

  • Control Where You Want It—The per-Habit Builder setting lets program managers allow retakes on some programs and keep others one-and-done.

  • Fewer Dead Ends for Members—Members whose Fixed window ended before they finished have a path back in, and returning members skip what they've already done.

  • No Setup Required—Retake works at release without configuration; admins only step in to opt a Habit Builder out.
