Push Notifications in the Avidon Mobile App

STAGE: In Development
PROJECTED DONE: Q3 - 2026

Push notifications are coming to the Avidon Health mobile app bringing members back to the moments that matter most in their wellness journey, while giving them full control over what reaches them and when. Notifications deep-link directly to the relevant screen, so a tap on a chat alert opens the conversation, a challenge reminder opens today's check-in, and a course nudge opens the next lesson. This release will be available to clients whose programs include the Avidon Health mobile app.

What's Changing

  • Standard engagement notifications, curated by Avidon. A built-in set of push notifications focuses on the two highest-impact engagement moments in our platform: wellness challenge participation and course progress. These are designed to support members in activities they've already opted into, never promotional, never spam.

  • Custom push notifications via Automations. Clients can author their own push notifications using the same Automation builder they already use for email and in-app messaging. Audience targeting, triggers, and conditions all carry over, so any moment you can already automate can now reach members on their phone.

  • Deep linking to the right screen. Tapping a notification takes the member straight to the relevant destination (a new chat message opens the conversation, a challenge check-in opens that day's activity, a course nudge opens the next lesson). No hunting through the app to find what the notification was about.

  • Member-controlled notification categories. Members can turn individual notification categories on or off from their app settings, choosing which types of messages they want to receive without losing the ones they find valuable.

  • Quiet hours. Push notifications honor configured quiet hours. Notifications queued during quiet hours surface respectfully once the window ends.

  • Mobile app required. Push notifications are exclusive to the Avidon Health mobile app. Clients using only the web member experience aren't affected by this release.

Why It Matters

  • Re-engagement at the moment of intent. A push notification arriving at the right time (a check-in due, a course halfway done, a coach replying) turns passive interest into active participation, and members get there with one tap.

  • Member trust through restraint. By limiting standard notifications to activities members are already enrolled in, and by giving members explicit control over categories, we protect the inbox-fatigue threshold that makes push valuable in the first place.

  • More leverage in your Automation strategy. Push joins email and SMS as a delivery channel inside Automations, letting clients design multi-channel sequences that meet members wherever they're most reachable.

  • Better outcomes on the metrics that matter. Challenge completion and course progression are two of the strongest predictors of measurable health behavior change. Lightweight nudges at the right moments help more members cross the finish line.

Push notifications round out the Avidon Health mobile experience as a true daily-engagement surface not just a place members visit, but a channel that quietly supports the small, consistent actions that add up to lasting behavior change. With member-first controls baked in from day one, this is re-engagement done the way it should be done: helpful, relevant, and on the member's terms.
