Redesigned Coach Connection Status

STAGE: In Development

Coaches in the admin previously saw a persistent connection status indicator—"Connected," "Reconnecting…," or "Disconnected"—that didn't explain what was at stake or what to do about it. This update replaces that with a smarter, more informative, and selective approach: nothing in the header when everything is fine, and a clear, actionable alert when it isn't.

What's Changing

The Persistent Header Indicator Is Removed The existing "Connected" indicator no longer appears under normal conditions. A stable connection requires no attention; the header now reflects that.

A Tiered Banner Replaces It Disconnections that resolve within 15 seconds show no UI at all. For sustained drops, a banner appears below the site header—visible across all admin pages—with a plain-language message, a retry option, and a page refresh fallback. It dismisses automatically when the connection is restored; a brief toast message confirms the return. An inline callout on the Coaching dashboard mirrors the banner for coaches working in that view.

Why It Matters

  • Less noise, more signal—the header stays clean when everything is working; the indicator only appears when it has something worth saying.

  • Clear next steps—when the banner appears, retry and refresh options are right there.

  • Consistent visibility—the warning follows coaches across the entire admin, not just the Coaching dashboard.

Coaches now get the context they need, exactly when they need it and nothing in the way when they don't.
