To keep pace with the most modern and secure browsers, Avidon Health will soon be ending support for Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 and Edge Legacy web browsers.
Support Ending for IE 11 and Microsoft Edge Legacy
On August 23rd, we will be ending support for two obsolete browsers:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 (all other IE versions reached end-of-life in 2016)
- Microsoft Edge Legacy (the new Microsoft Edge was released January, 2021)
Our decision follows Microsoft’s late-2020 announcement that they are officially ending support for these browsers (March 9th for Edge Legacy and August 17th for IE).
Ending support for these browsers means that users may have a degraded online experience if they continue using them. After August 23rd, we will no longer test against these older web browsers and will not guarantee full functionality with them. This has no impact for the vast majority of users, who are already using more contemporary browsers.
In Summary
Dropping support for these outdated browsers allows full focus and testing on the modern, more sophisticated browsers which offer greater security and better overall functionality.
