SelfHelpWorks has implemented an interactive automated coaching system that functions in direct relation to the Daily Sleep Improvement Journal.
To receive coaching, users must first complete the ideal sleep plan that is introduced in the second session of the LivingWellRested course. The sleep plan sets a bedtime and a wake-time for the user, which are essential factors in treating insomnia. The ideal sleep plan is a both a blueprint for a healthy night’s sleep and a malleable tool that can help consolidate and improve sleep.
After creating an ideal sleep plan, users are encouraged to fill out the sleep journal every day. In filling out the journal - which takes between one and two minutes - users will report on the length and quality of the previous night’s sleep. They will also answer questions about certain habits and behaviors that might affect sleep.
Immediately after the journal is filled out and submitted, the coaching system is activated and the user will receive feedback. Some feedback is in text form and some is in video form.
The coaching system has two primary objectives:
Feedback may be related to certain behaviors the user engaged in that could be responsible for their sleep issue. If, for example, a user reports that they woke early in the night and that they drank alcohol before bed, the coaching system will educate them on the perils of late-night drinking and give them strategies to help them change this behavior. There are various behaviors that can elicit coaching feedback.
While some feedback deals with changing behaviors, other feedback deals directly with the sleep issue itself. If someone continues to wake during the night, for example, the coaching system might instruct them to change their ideal sleep plan by temporarily pushing back their scheduled bedtime.
Feedback is progressive, so if a user continues to report on one specific sleep issue or behavior, they will continue to get coaching that is based on earlier feedback. The system is thorough and deep, with new feedback that continues to evolve for users with more stubborn cases of insomnia.
This coaching system is a direct reflection of SelfHelpWorks' commitment to providing our clients with the best possible solution to employee health and behavioral issues.
