This release was primarily focused on the addition of a content library to the portal website. The library, which can be enabled at the portal level, contains articles spanning all topics of health and wellness and can be accessed by members from their homepage.

New Updates & Features

Content Library Added to Portal Website

To augment the courses and provide an overarching source of health information for users, we have added a content library to the portal website. 

While many users come to SelfHelpWorks to address distinct lifestyle issues, the library provides an expansive catalog of content that can enrich user experience, no matter the specific course of interest. The library contains over 150 articles pertaining to various facets of health, vitality, motivation, and general life-affirming topics. 

When the library is enabled for a portal, members can access it from the Tools menu on the homepage.

The library contains five broad categories, organized beneath which are sub-categories and then individual articles. Users can view the main categories from the library homepage:

A Wide Range of Topics

Healthy Eating and Hydration

This category includes four sub-categories, as listed:

  • Nutrition—articles cover the importance of a balanced diet and guidelines for optimal nutrition.
  • Cooking and Meal Planning—articles cover food safety and tips on how to plan meals and cook for both health and enjoyment.
  • Recipes—articles contain ingredient lists and instructions for meals.
  • Hydration—articles cover the importance of hydration, with guidelines on how much water is necessary and tips on how to achieve proper hydration on a daily basis.

Exercise and Fitness

This category includes two sub-categories, as listed:

  • Exercise Safety—articles explain how to gauge exertion levels and provide precautions for beginning an exercise routine.
  • Workout Tips—articles provide definitions of exercise types and suggestions for workouts.

Lifestyle

This category includes six sub-categories, as listed:

  • Social Support—articles cover exercises on dealing with triggers for unhealthy, unwanted behaviors and guidelines on how to create or improve the social support network in life.
  • Job Growth—articles cover the importance of establishing a sense of satisfaction in the workplace and recognizing the values inherent in diversity as it relates to workplace culture.
  • Environment—articles cover key components to maintaining a healthy home environment.
  • Positive Parenting—articles cover how to deal with typical obstacles and challenges when raising children of all ages.
  • Financial Health—articles cover how to deal with common credit issues and how to establish good credit.
  • Shift-Work—articles are aimed at people who work evening and night shifts, or who have irregular work schedules.

Mental and Psychological Wellness

This category includes five sub-categories, as listed:

  • Brain Health—articles cover the importance of actively maintaining brain health with suggestions on how to do so.
  • Self-Reflection—articles contain exercises that promote positive emotional and psychological growth.
  • Resources—articles contain exercises and information related to lifestyle improvement and creating sustained motivation.
  • Stress Management—articles cover stress reduction exercises and highlight the power of mindfulness.
  • Self-Efficacy—articles provide guidelines for creating efficient daily schedules.

General Health

This category includes five sub-categories, as listed:

  • Sleep—articles cover the importance of sleep and suggestions for improving sleep.
  • Substance Use Management—articles cover how to avoid relapse and how to mitigate the harm of relapse, most specifically related to alcohol and tobacco.
  • Regular Checkups—articles stress the importance of screenings and vaccines, while providing insights into common health conditions for people at various ages.
  • Chronic Conditions—articles cover warning signs for common chronic conditions and health-events, and provide general details on how to emotionally manage certain conditions.
  • Medications—articles provide general safety measures for people who take medications.

The addition of the content library to the portal website gives users a massive resource-center for wide-spanning health, lifestyle, and wellness topics. The library broadens the overall scope of impact and usefulness for users who want to expand upon their experience within a course.
