Unified Health Data Sync Through Apple Health & Google Health Connect
We’re excited to share an important product evolution coming to the Avidon mobile experience: a new, unified integration with Apple Health and Google Health Connect, enabling seamless two-way health data syncing across a wide range of wearables and fitness apps.
What’s Changing
A New, Simplified Integration Model
Today, Avidon supports wearable integrations through our website, relying on a limited set of supported devices and a third-party app (Human API) for Apple Health connections. With this update:
All wearable & health data integrations will now be handled directly within the Avidon mobile app.
Apple Health integration will no longer require a separate third-party app—members will connect natively through our app.
Website-based integrations and support for the limited list of wearables/apps previously supported through Human API will be discontinued.
This change allows us to support far more devices and apps, since any wearable that syncs with Apple Health or Google Health Connect will now work automatically with Avidon.
Two-Step Setup for Maximum Compatibility
To enable the widest possible device support, members will follow a simple two-part connection flow:
Connect their wearable or fitness app to Apple Health or Google Health Connect.
Authorize the Avidon mobile app to read and write health data from that platform.
Once connected, data flows effortlessly—no extra apps, no manual uploads, no limitations.
Real-Time & Batch Sync
The new app performs lightweight syncs every 15 minutes, keeping activity, sleep, heart rate, and other metrics fresh without manual entry.
Privacy & Compliance
All integrations follow Apple and Google guidelines. Members can review or revoke permissions at any time, and all data is encrypted end-to-end.
Why It Matters
Dramatically Expanded Device Support
This shift removes previous limitations tied to Human API’s small list of supported devices.
If a wearable syncs with Apple Health or Google Health Connect, it now works with Avidon.
That means far more members can connect the devices they already use and love.Friction-Free Setup
By eliminating the need for a third-party connection app, members enjoy a cleaner, faster onboarding experience—all directly inside the Avidon mobile app.
More Accurate, Consistent Data
Automatic syncing reduces dependence on manual tracking, improving data quality across coaching, challenges, and wellness tools.
A Better Long-Term Platform
This integration strategy aligns with Apple and Google’s health ecosystems, ensuring broad compatibility, higher reliability, and future-proof scalability.
Required Reauthorization: A One-Time Upgrade for Better Performance
All current users will be required to reauthorize their account when the new system launches.
We’re positioning this as a benefit because reauthorization:
Ensures every member transitions to the more powerful, more flexible integration model.
Eliminates old limitations tied to legacy integrations.
Provides stronger privacy, clearer permissions, and a cleaner data pipeline moving forward.
This one-time update sets the foundation for a significantly improved, more connected Avidon experience.
In Summary
This product evolution replaces outdated, fragmented integrations with a modern, unified, and far more capable health data sync—powered directly through Apple Health and Google Health Connect. Members gain broader device compatibility, cleaner onboarding, real-time data flows, and an overall better mobile experience.
